The Derry, New Hampshire, community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Monica Catherine McCarthy, who passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, after sustaining critical injuries in a tragic motor vehicle accident. She was 24 years old. Her sudden passing has left family, friends, coworkers, and loved ones devastated as they remember a vibrant young woman whose authenticity, creativity, and compassionate spirit touched countless lives.

According to authorities, the fatal collision occurred shortly before 1:00 p.m. at the intersection of Hampstead Road and Nutmeadow Lane in Derry. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of a serious two-vehicle crash involving Monica’s 2017 Toyota Corolla and a Peterbilt dump truck.

When first responders arrived, they found Monica suffering from life-threatening injuries. She was transported by the Derry Fire Department to Parkland Medical Center, where medical personnel worked tirelessly to save her life. Despite their efforts, Monica later succumbed to her injuries.

Officials confirmed that no passengers were inside either vehicle at the time of the collision. The roadway remained closed for several hours as members of the Derry Police Department’s Accident Investigation Unit documented the scene and gathered evidence. The investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing, and authorities continue to seek information from anyone who may have witnessed the incident.

She attended Pinkerton Academy, where she formed lifelong friendships and developed many of the interests that would continue to shape her life.
